Where did the name Shahrazad come from?
The name Shahrazad comes from a Middle Eastern folk tales English written book named The Arabian Nights. The book was originally written in the Arabic language during the Islamic Golden Age and was called One Thousand and One Nights. The first English-language edition was between 1706–1721. There are a few versions written in the English Language, however, one good version is translated by Sir Richard F. Burton.
Shahrazad is the main character in the book, she is the one who is telling all the stories to King Shahryar, see full summary of the story on our blog. The book contains 21 tales in total, one very famous tale in this book is called Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp.
